The module Personal Data Protection aims to familiarise students with the goals, principles and protection mechanisms used in the legal regulation of personal data protection. Personal data protection is a field of knowledge on the borderline of information, administrative, economic and legal sciences. As a subject of academic classes, Personal Data Protection focuses on the presentation of the basic protective regulations in this field. Within the realization of the module, the student is able to become familiar with the following key problem issues: protection of individual rights and freedoms, including protection of individual privacy, as a task of personal data protection, development of the idea of personal data protection, European and constitutional standards of personal data protection, subject and object scope of personal data protection, principles of personal data processing, duties of personal data administrators and personal data processors, rights of persons whose data are processed, control mechanisms, issue of penalties and liability. The aim of the course is above all to familiarise student with the legal solutions regulating the protection of personal data and to provide studwnt with the practical skills of performing duties in the field of personal data protection. Graduates of the Faculty of Law, thanks to the realization of the module Personal data protection, will be prepared to perform various social functions on the market (lawyer, clerk, entrepreneur, consumer, etc.) to the extent in which they will perform duties, or use rights, related to the processing of personal information. Indeed, the module is intended to provide students with practical skills in the implementation of the requirements of conducting activities using personal information and in the exercise of rights, insofar as the processing of personal information is involved. Looking from the perspective of the teaching system, the subject is furthermore supposed to provide a basis for writing a diploma (master's) thesis in the field of personal data protection, if the student is interested in such an issue. If the student decides to prepare a thesis (master's thesis) dealing with the issue of personal data protection incidentally, the module will help to prepare a chapter dedicated to the issue.
