Purpose and description of the content of education:
The aim of the module is to familiarize the participant with the possibilities of protecting human rights, which are provided by global and European mechanisms. It is assumed that after the course, the student should be able to move around the universal and European space in the field of human rights and independently cope with the pursuit of rights before international institutions (at least at the introductory stage). The subject will develop issues signaled only as part of the course on public international law. Particular emphasis will be placed on universal and European mechanisms, i.e. the most important ones for a Polish lawyer. During the lecture, the following issues are discussed: 1. The concept of human rights 2. Sources of protection/sources of law 3. National and international protection 4. The status of a citizen and a foreigner 5. Human rights institutions 6. Human rights control mechanisms 7. Complaint to the ECtHR 8. Notification to human rights treaty bodies 9. Special Procedures of the Human Rights Council and the role of NGOs 10. Human rights in the EU 11. Special protection of sensitive groups (selection according to students’ suggestions)
