Purpose and description of the content of education:
The aim of the module is to explain to participants, in the form of discussion, the term of intellectual property, including non-material property, to present sources of the law protecting it, and to indicate the place of intellectual property law in the general system of law. The student is introduced to the principles of copyright law, its individual issues are presented in turn, in particular the subject and subjects of copyright law, author's personal rights and their protection, author's economic rights and their protection, statutory licences and trading in author's economic rights, related rights, protection of the image and addressee of correspondence and protection of databases. The student is also introduced to the principles of industrial property law and its individual institutions, including: inventions and utility and industrial designs, topographies of integrated circuits, rationalization projects, trademarks and geographical indications, as well as trading in them. In addition to presenting the issues of Polish copyright law and Polish intellectual property law, the course includes a discussion of Community acts and relevant international conventions, including the Berne Convention, the Paris Convention and TRIPS. The following issues are discussed in class: - The concept of intellectual property, including non-material property; - Sources and history of copyright and industrial property law; - The place of intellectual property law in the general system of law; - Thenotion and principles of copyright, - The subject of copyright, - The construction of copyright, - Related rights, - Theprotection of image, - The notion and principles of industrial property law - Inventions, utility models, industrial designs, topography of integrated circuits, rationalization projects, Trademarks and geographical indications - Turnover in the field of industrial property - Community law; - Intellectual property in the Internet. The student, as a part of own work, becomes accustomed to the indicated legal acts and the jurisprudence of the CJEU (Court of Justice of the European Union).
