Optional module I Field of study: Geography
Programme code: W2-S2GF19.2025

Module name: Optional module I
Module code: W2-GFO-S2-004
Programme code: W2-S2GF19.2025
Semester: winter semester 2025/2026
Language of instruction: Polish
Form of verification: course work
ECTS credits: 1
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The module focuses on developing advanced skills in spatial data analysis using modern geoinformatics and statistical techniques. Students will learn methods for modeling geographic phenomena, working with large spatial data sets (Big Spatial Data) and integrating various sources of geographic information. It covers topics from geostatistics, through network analysis, predictive modeling, to the application of machine learning in a spatial context. The aim is to prepare students to independently conduct complex analytical and research projects requiring in-depth GIS and spatial statistics competences.
List of modules that must be completed before starting this module (if necessary): not applicable
Learning outcome of the module Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5]
The student is able to critically assess the quality and usefulness of various sources of spatial data (e.g. satellite data, crowdsourcing data) for the implementation of specific research tasks. [W2-GFO-S2-004_1]
KGG2_U02 [2/5]
The student is able to independently select and apply advanced methods of spatial statistics to analyze the distribution and dependencies of geographical phenomena. [W2-GFO-S2-004_2]
KGG2_U03 [2/5]
The student is able to design, create and verify spatial models simulating processes occurring in the natural and socio-economic environment. [W2-GFO-S2-004_3]
