Information space architecture Field of study: Information Architecture
Programme code: W1-S1AI19.2025

Module name: Information space architecture
Module code: W1-AI-S1-API03
Programme code: W1-S1AI19.2025
Semester: winter semester 2026/2027
Language of instruction: Polish
Form of verification: course work
ECTS credits: 3
Purpose and description of the content of education:
In the module, students learn the elements of the architecture of information spaces and their design principles. They find out how to structure and organise content in information environments, and how to design navigation systems. They become familiar with the types of labels and guidelines for their creation and learn methods for researching user needs in this area. They can prepare information architecture designs for various digital products.
List of modules that must be completed before starting this module (if necessary): not applicable
Learning outcome of the module Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5]
The students know what an information space is and its characteristics. They know the principles of designing useful, functional and aesthetic structures of information systems. [API03_1]
K_W03 [2/5] K_W04 [5/5]
The students are skilled in organising content, dividing it into categories and planning the components of information spaces, including navigation, labelling and search systems. [API03_2]
K_U05 [4/5] K_U07 [3/5]
Students can conduct an audit of the content of the existing information environment. They are able to prepare an information architecture strategy, considering the principles of developing the various components of the information space. Use appropriate software to test information architecture projects. [API03_3]
K_U02 [5/5] K_U08 [4/5]
The students plan the information space, categorise its content in a way that is logical for the audience, give understandable labels and design an clear navigation system so that users find the information easily. [API03_4]
K_U03 [5/5] K_K02 [5/5] K_K04 [2/5]

Name Category Description
Literature reading / analysis of source materials [a02] Preparation for classes
reading the literature indicated in the syllabus; reviewing, organizing, analyzing and selecting source materials to be used in class
Determining the stages of task implementation contributing to the verification of learning outcomes [c01] Preparation for verification of learning outcomes
devising a task implementation strategy embracing the division of content, the range of activities, implementation time and/or the method(s) of obtaining the necessary materials and tools, etc.
Implementation of an individual or group assignment necessary for course/phase/examination completion [c03] Preparation for verification of learning outcomes
a set of activities aimed at performing an assigned task, to be executed out of class, as an obligatory phase/element of the verification of the learning outcomes assigned to the course
Analysis of the corrective feedback provided by the academic teacher on the results of the verification of learning outcomes [d01] Consulting the results of the verification of learning outcomes
reading through the academic teacher’s comments, assessments and opinions on the implementation of the task aimed at checking the level of the achieved learning outcomes
