Module code: | W2-GF-S2-604 |
Programme code: | W2-S2GF19.2025 |
Semester: | winter semester 2026/2027 |
Language of instruction: | Polish |
Form of verification: | course work |
ECTS credits: | 3 |
Purpose and description of the content of education: | The described module is to enable the student to learn about the nature and extent of the influence of individual components of the geographical environment on the conditions of runoff formation from the catchment. These components are: geological structure and terrain, soils and vegetation, and water relations and climate. All these elements are variable in space, and some of them are also variable in time. The climate is of fundamental importance for generating runoff, as it determines its size and variability in time. Meteorological conditions, on the other hand, determine the size of the temporary runoff, which is modified by non-climatic physical and geographic features of the catchment. Learning the causal relationships between the above-mentioned elements and runoff enables the assessment and forecasting of runoff, mainly in catchments without a meteorological and hydrological network of observation posts. |
