Purpose and description of the content of education:
The student knows the applications of dendrochronology in the study of changes in the geographical environment. The student learns the theoretical foundations of performing the role of an expert who is able to: a) assess the usefulness of this method in various environmental studies, b) verify the accuracy and reliability of the results of commissioned studies, c) plan increment analyses as a component of broader, interdisciplinary studies. Based on the analysis of specific application studies, the student is able to assess the usefulness of dendrochronology for: a) dating wooden objects, reconstruction of geomorphological and hydrological processes, climate change, environmental pollution. The student understands the basic legal, substantive and ethical aspects of conducting dendrochronological studies and expertise.
