Purpose and description of the content of education:
Humanities Module II focuses on exploring the social and cultural conditions of the organization and perception of space. The course examines how social factors (social structure, inequalities, power relations) and cultural factors (identity, tradition, values, symbolism) shape landscapes and influence people's lives in different places. Concepts of space as a social and cultural construct are analyzed, as well as the relationships between space and individual and collective identity. The module introduces students to issues of cultural geography, social geography, and urban geography from a socio-cultural perspective. Students learn about research methods used in qualitative research in human geography (e.g. in-depth interviews, participant observation, discourse analysis, analysis of visual materials) and how to apply them to the analysis of complex spatial problems. The student learns about the cultural diversity of geographical space (cultural circles) and in particular the way reality is perceived by representatives of different cultural circles and the resulting motivations for their actions, which will allow for understanding the complexity of the contemporary world.
