Purpose and description of the content of education: | The Philosophy of Nature module enables students to become familiar with the main philosophical issues that are important in the philosophy of nature and their application in the Earth sciences. They include the issues of the object of knowledge in the philosophy of nature, the principles of scientific knowledge, and the most important theoretical positions in philosophy that have been formed from antiquity to modern times. Thanks to such an approach, the student should not only acquire knowledge in this field, but also understand the historical variability of philosophical concepts regarding nature and scientific knowledge and lasting philosophical findings, thus becoming aware of the need for a common-sense approach to philosophical issues. Enriching the language by mastering the basic concepts of philosophy will allow the student to deepen the ability to construct various types of arguments based on rational premises. |
