Module code: W2-GF-S2-227
Programme code: W2-S2GF19.2025
Semester: winter semester 2025/2026
Language of instruction: English
Form of verification: course work
ECTS credits: 4
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The "Geoinformation (ECDL EPP GIS)" course is realized in accordance with the requirements of preparing students for examination and obtaining the ECDL GIS certificate (European Computer Driving Licence) - modules 2 and 3. Indicates methods and ways of solving various natural problems using digital database analysis. This will allow the student to learn both the basic theory of GIS and the practical functions of the tools - GIS software, as well as its practical application in researching the geographical environment.
List of modules that must be completed before starting this module (if necessary): not applicable
Learning outcome of the module Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5]
the student obtains knowledge in the field of geographic sciences, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), learns and understands the theoretical basis of techniques used to obtain geoinformation data and to forecast natural processes. The student understands the basics of operating databases and the relationships between data sets and data visualization. The student is aware of the development of this discipline and its place in relation to other geographic sciences (e.g. cartography, remote sensing) [W2-GF-S2-227 _1]
KGG2_W01 [4/5] KGG2_W02 [3/5]
the student uses advanced geoinformation techniques and research tools in the field of Geographic Information Systems in order to model, forecast and solve specific goals. He/she critically analyzes and selects information from digital databases, and also uses statistical methods and GIS techniques and software to describe phenomena and analyze spatial data. He/she systematically enhances their knowledge of nature and knows how to apply this knowledge practically. The student is able to obtain and interpret empirical data and formulate appropriate conclusions based on it. The student plans and performs research tasks or expertise under the guidance of a scientific supervisor [W2-GF-S2-227_2]
KGG2_U01 [4/5] KGG2_U02 [4/5] KGG2_U03 [3/5] KGG2_U05 [3/5]
the student is able to complement and improve their acquired knowledge and skills in science, in the field of GIS especially [W2-GF-S2-227_3]
