Applications of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) Field of study: Geography
Programme code: W2-S2GF19.2025

Module name: Applications of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)
Module code: W2-GF-S2-230
Programme code: W2-S2GF19.2025
Semester: winter semester 2025/2026
Language of instruction: English
Form of verification: course work
ECTS credits: 4
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The module provides knowledge and skills in the use of satellite positioning techniques in environmental applications. Within the module, students become acquainted with the components of the GNSS, methods of determining the position by the GNSS receivers, as well as with the areas of application of the satellite positioning techniques. During the course, students will acquire the skills of navigational and geodetic measurements using different classes of the GNSS modules and a range of measurement techniques, skills in data processing, presentation and analysis in order to solve a wide range of environmental problems.
List of modules that must be completed before starting this module (if necessary): not applicable
Learning outcome of the module Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5]
the student has extensive knowledge of the components and operation of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and modern satellite positioning techniques as well as the GNSS applications in solving environmental problems [W2-GF-S2-230 _1]
KGG2_W01 [2/5] KGG2_W02 [1/5]
the student is able to plan the research process applying the GNSS and to implement advanced measurement methods, data processing tools and presentation techniques to achieve outputs consistent with the assumed purpose of the study. The student analyses and explains the results and draws conclusions about the environmental processes, discusses the results in the context of contemporary scientific and technical studies (textbooks, papers, expertises, etc.), prepares a project report [W2-GF-S2-230 _2]
