Purpose and description of the content of education:
The subject Mass Tourism and Overtourism focuses on the analysis of phenomena related to mass tourism and its negative effects, including the phenomenon of overtourism (tourist overload). During the course, students will become familiar with the causes, course and consequences of mass tourism, as well as methods of managing tourist traffic in order to minimize the negative effects on the environment, culture and society. The subject makes students aware that mass tourism, although it brings economic benefits, can lead to the degradation of the natural environment, overloading of infrastructure and social conflicts. During the course, students will analyze specific cases of overtourism and prepare projects related to the management of tourist traffic in popular destinations. The main objective of the subject Mass Tourism and Overtourism is to familiarize students with the concepts and mechanisms related to mass tourism and the phenomenon of overtourism, develop skills in analyzing the impact of mass tourism on the environment, culture and society and identify factors influencing tourist overload and prepare students to design tourist traffic management strategies in order to minimize the negative effects of mass tourism.
