Purpose and description of the content of education:
Fundamentals of Tourist Cartography and GIS is a subject that introduces students to issues related to the creation, interpretation and use of maps and geographic information systems (GIS) in the context of tourism. The subject focuses on the practical application of cartographic and GIS tools to the analysis of tourist space, route planning, management of tourist resources and promotion of tourist regions. Students will become familiar with the techniques of creating maps, principles of their interpretation and the use of modern GIS technologies in the tourism industry. The subject is practical in nature, combining elements of geography, geoinformatics and tourism management. During the classes, students will work with GIS software, create tourist maps and analyze spatial data, which will allow them to acquire the skills necessary to work in the tourism industry. The main objective of the subject Fundamentals of Tourist Cartography and GIS is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to use cartographic and GIS tools in tourism practice, to familiarize students with the principles of cartography and techniques for creating and interpreting tourist maps and to develop the ability to use geographic information systems (GIS) to analyze tourist space and manage tourist resources.
