Purpose and description of the content of education:
GIS Applications in Tourism is a subject that focuses on the practical application of GIS tools for the analysis of tourist space, route planning, management of tourist resources and promotion of tourist regions. Students will become familiar with techniques for creating maps, principles of their interpretation, techniques and tools for processing spatial data and their analysis. The subject is practical in nature, combining elements of geography, geoinformatics and tourism management. During the classes, students will work with GIS software, create tourist maps and analyze spatial data, which will allow them to acquire the skills necessary to work in the tourism industry. The main objective of the GIS Applications in Tourism subject is to familiarize students with techniques for creating and interpreting tourist maps, develop skills in using geographic information systems (GIS) for the analysis of tourist space and management of tourist resources, and prepare students to design and implement tourist maps and other tools supporting tourism planning and promotion.
