Language of instruction: | Polish |
Form of verification: | exam |
ECTS credits: | 6 |
Purpose and description of the content of education: | The module focuses on education in advanced optometric diagnostic procedures, including management of difficult cases. Participants in the module gain practical skills in conducting full optometric examinations of external patients from various groups under supervision and also learn to create individual optometric examination cards and plan the course of the examination based on the interview with the patient. The module places particular emphasis on the selection of diagnostic procedures, proper interpretation of results and the ability to solve complex clinical cases.
Training content:
1. Optometrist's approach to difficult visual cases.
2. Creation and analysis of optometric examination cards.
3. Optometric examination standards.
4. Planning the course of the study and selecting appropriate procedures depending on the interview results.
5. Conducting full optometric examinations of external patients.
6. Case study research.
The module takes the form of lectures and laboratory exercises. During lectures, students learn the basic theoretical issues concerning advanced diagnostic procedures used in optometry. During laboratory classes, the student conducts a full optometric examination of external patients under supervision. The student's task is to create their own optometric examination card (based on sample cards and previously conducted measurements), discuss various cards, advantages and disadvantages of examination cards, standards of optometric examination, planning the course of the examination / selection of procedures / based on the conducted interview). To pass the practical part, the student prepares a case presentation and submits a summary of the cards of conducted patient examinations together with a summary of the number of examined patients from different target groups.
As part of their own work, the student, based on lecture notes and supplementary literature, aims to consolidate the knowledge they have acquired. The module also develops the ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with the environment.
The final examination includes a theoretical and practical part, testing the knowledge of selected optometric procedures and the ability to perform them correctly. |
