Purpose and description of the content of education: | The aim of the module is to present folklore studies as a science dealing with the analysis of traditional and contemporary folklore texts from an anthropological perspective. The subject of the analysis are texts belonging to the linguistic and cultural code of a specific community, which are reproduced and accepted by members of the communication community, shaping not only their sense of aesthetics, but also cognitive habits. These include both traditional texts (e.g. folk songs, fairy tales, rituals) and contemporary texts (e.g. texts in tabloids, Internet memes), provided that they have been introduced into social circulation and constitute the part of it that the community has accepted and its members repeat them.
The issues discussed in the module are related to the contemporary functioning of folklore texts, the transfer of content from folklore to mass circulation and vice versa, the construction of reality in folklore texts and texts of popular culture. |
