Purpose and description of the content of education:
The task of the course is for students to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies in understanding the role of constitutional institutions in the state and the principles and procedures of their functioning, understanding the genesis of the state, moving in the sphere of mutual relations between the main organs of the state, understanding the practice of operation of the main organs of the state, understanding the essential institutional and material guarantees of the Constitution, rights and freedoms and duties of citizens. As part of the course, the student is acquainted with the basic information on the theory of constitutional law, and in particular on : - the concept and contemporary understanding of the state, including in particular the separation of powers; - contemporary constitutional systems; - sources of constitutional law; - principles of the state system; - freedoms and rights of man and citizen, including the means of their protection and civic duties. The student also learns the details of Polish constitutional arrangements, in particular: - the main principles of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland; - freedoms, rights and duties of the individual in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland; - the system of sources of Polish law; - Polish electoral and referendum law; - the constitutional position, powers and principles of functioning of the supreme organs of state (the Sejm, the Senate, the President of the Republic of Poland, the Council of Ministers, the Constitutional Tribunal, the State Tribunal, the Supreme Chamber of Control, the Ombudsman for Civil Rights, the courts and local self-government; - states of emergency in the Polish Constitution.
