Purpose and description of the content of education:
Special pedagogy is a module containing detailed knowledge about disability, its determinants, and social mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion of people with disabilities. An important aim of the classes is to familiarize students with theoretical issues in the field of special education - its goals, subdisciplines, paradigms, terminology. In addition, important assumptions include the implementation of content regarding broadly understood social support, social rehabilitation processes, resocialization, upbringing and education of people with disabilities. An important element is also the acquisition of correct attitudes towards this group of people and the implementation of continuous updating of one's knowledge and systematic action for these people in therapeutic environments. The module is implemented in accordance with UDL principles.

In terms of knowledge, the graduate knows and understands the basic problems of special education as an interdisciplinary science: concepts, goals, tasks, principles and scope, historical context of care and rehabilitation of people with disabilities; contemporary trends in special education; common and specific problems of people with various disabilities; the scale and dynamics of the disability phenomenon in Poland and around the world; education systems for children and students with special educational needs in Poland and other countries; principles of equalizing educational opportunities; education system for special educators.
