Purpose and description of the content of education:
The aim of the course is to prepare students to conduct their own scientific research in the therapeutic space, to provide knowledge on the construction of social and artistic research, taking into account key methods of collecting empirical data. In addition, it is planned to learn about the simplest methods of measuring the patient's characteristics subject to art therapy support. m.in issues related to the types of research and ethics in research devoted to therapy will be discussed; the approach to qualitative and quantitative investigations, the hermeneutic and phenomenological approaches in therapy; methodological construction of empirical investigations in the diagnostic and verification system (verification of the effectiveness of therapeutic measures). Tools for measuring/describing patient characteristics will also be presented. Attempts will be made to construct their own research plan.

The student has knowledge of the process of conceptualizing research in the field of art therapy. The student knows the basic paradigms of social research and research in the arts sciences. Knows what are the methodological consequences of adopting a specific research strategy (idiographic/nomothetic) in the formulation of research problems, goals, methods and techniques of research. Understands the differences and specifics of quantitative and qualitative (individualizing) research, and knows the rules of using scientific texts. [AR_PSzM_1_01]
