Purpose and description of the content of education: | The course will discuss the most important social and humanities theories concerning the phenomena that have occurred in recent decades. The topics which will be addressed include: globalisation and its slowdown, neo-liberalism, the attack on the World Trade Centre as a boundary event for the 21st century, economic crises, the idea of the precariat, inequality, energy crises and the climate crisis, as well as the issues related to contemporary conflicts and visions of the future regarding the automation of work and fantasies of various catastrophes, as well as utopian scenarios. The course will enable students to understand a range of contemporary local and global issues, as well as raise awareness of their possible solutions. |
