Purpose and description of the content of education: | The main aim of the module is to consider and discuss ethically controversial issues such as climate change, environmental threats, gender, sexual, species, economic and technological inequalities. The presentation of historical controversies (slavery, feudalism, gender inequality) and the discussion of current controversies with their modes of representation shall lead to a re-evaluation of dominant environmental discourses from a humanistic perspective and to the conviction about the new (equality- and diversity-based) ways of living. Students develop skills in discussing controversies, both in rhetorical-argumentative terms and in drawing attention to socio-political ways of constructing hierarchies of values. |
