ECTS credits: 2
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The module introduces students to ways of thinking characteristic of speculative fiction and utopian (eutopian and dystopian) discourses, distrustful of dominant ways of designing changes in the future. Furthermore, it discusses the most important elements of science fiction discourse. SF is understood here primarily as a critique of technology, oscillating between techno-optimism and techno-pessimism. As such, science fiction examines the impact of technological progress on individuals and societies, and considers axiological and cultural transformations in a technologised world. In order to achieve this aim, it employs tools such as literary futurology, speculation, prototyping solutions whcich humanise the human-technology relationship, and combines the discourses of science, humanities and art.
