Purpose and description of the content of education:
The Surface Engineering of Biomaterials module enables students to learn about engineering biomaterials' structure and surface layers. Students will explore the phenomena and processes occurring at the interface between biomaterials and their environment and become acquainted with various surface modification methods aimed at improving the functional properties of biomaterials. The module aims to develop student's critical analysis skills, allowing them to evaluate and select appropriate surface modification methods while considering the specific characteristics of biomaterials and the requirements associated with their application. Students will learn to identify, formulate, and solve engineering tasks related to modifying biomaterial surfaces, utilizing analytical, simulation, and experimental methods. Additionally, they will be encouraged to consider systemic, non-technical, ethical, and economic aspects during the decision-making process.
