Generative reproduction of plants and experimental embryology Field of study: Biotechnology
Programme code: W2-S1BT19.2023

Module name: Generative reproduction of plants and experimental embryology
Module code: 1BT_23_56
Programme code: W2-S1BT19.2023
Semester:
  • summer semester 2026/2027
  • summer semester 2025/2026
Language of instruction: depending on the choice
Form of verification: course work
ECTS credits: 2
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The module introduces the student with the basic issues in the field of angiosperm embryology, including the course of the development cycle and the exact characteristics of structures related to reproduction, including the processes of gametogenesis and embryogenesis of angiosperms. The course presents the current knowledge on sexual reproduction of angiosperms, with elements of experimental plant embryology. The student acquires the ability to conduct simple experiments and improves the ability to analyze and interpret ready-made microscopic preparations. The module points to the relationship between research in the field of crop plant embryology and the possibilities of their use in socio-economic life.
List of modules that must be completed before starting this module (if necessary): not applicable
Learning outcome of the module Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5]
The student understands the complexity of development processes, the solution of which requires an interdisciplinary approach based on empirical data. [01]
1BT_W03 [5/5]
The student describes the structure of flower, seed and fruit elements of flowering plants. [02]
1BT_W03 [5/5] 1BT_W04 [5/5]
The student classifies and explains the processes of gametogenesis and stages of embryonic development of angiosperms. [03]
1BT_W02 [3/5] 1BT_W03 [5/5]
The student is able to indicate the methods used in modern research in the field of experimental plant embryology and is able to use them to conduct simple experiments. [04]
1BT_W06 [4/5] 1BT_W09 [4/5] 1BT_U02 [4/5] 1BT_U03 [3/5]
The student understands the need for self-education and is able to synthesize the acquired knowledge. [05]
1BT_U01 [4/5] 1BT_K02 [5/5] 1BT_K03 [4/5]
The student is able to transfer the knowledge about the factors that are important for plant reproduction to the society and justify the need to conduct research on the processes of gametogenesis and embryogenesis. [06]
