From experiment to model - selected examples from the plant world Field of study: Biotechnology
Programme code: W2-S1BT19.2023

Module name: From experiment to model - selected examples from the plant world
Module code: 1BT_23_36
Programme code: W2-S1BT19.2023
Semester:
  • summer semester 2026/2027
  • summer semester 2025/2026
Language of instruction: depending on the choice
Form of verification: course work
ECTS credits: 3
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The subject introduces a comprehensive and interdisciplinary view of plant biology, pointing to the existence of rules and interrelations between the processes of plant growth and development at various levels of the organization. The presented theoretical models enable a clear description of phenomena and testing of hypotheses formulated based on the results of experimental research. Thanks to this, the student can better understand the processes taking place in the world of living matter and the rules governing these processes.
List of modules that must be completed before starting this module (if necessary): not applicable
Learning outcome of the module Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5]
Can assess own knowledge in the field of methods and results of experimental and model research on plant growth and development, and in case of any problems with the assimilation of knowledge, turn to a specialist in biotechnology and plant biology. [K01]
1BT_K03 [2/5]
Can use techniques and tools for observation and measurement in plant biology research, estimate measurement uncertainties, and apply basic statistical methods for data analysis. Use the scientific literature in plant biology, draw conclusions and participate in the discussion. Can plan measurements and simple experiments and build simple models in the field of plant biology research, make observations and draw conclusions. [U01]
1BT_U03 [3/5]
Knowledge and understanding of the functioning of plant organisms and understanding between the processes affecting the development and functioning of plants. Students know and understand experimental and model methods in the study of plant growth and development. [W01]
