Purpose and description of the content of education:
The Plant physiology with elements of biotechnology module enables the student to learn about the following processes occurring in plants: water uptake and transport, the function of macro- and microelements and mechanisms of their uptake, types of photosynthesis and their chemistry, catabolic processes with particular emphasis on processes occurring primarily in plants, types of phytohormones and their synthesis, the role of phytohormones in plant growth and development and their mechanisms of action, photomorphogenesis, photoperiodic induction, photoperiodism, plant movements, seed germination, plant photoreceptors and their participation in growth and development of plants, the effect of the environment on physiological processes and provides knowledge in the field of basic research techniques used in plant physiology and biotechnology.
