ECTS credits: 1
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The Crop Pests module provides the student with knowledge about the biology and impact on crops of various species of insects collectively classified as pests. The student learns to recognize plant damage or other symptoms indicating the presence of a pest in the field. As part of the module, students learn to prepare preparations from selected pest species and become familiar with the basic species of pests belonging to various groups of insects and with their bionomics. During the course, the impact of various factors determining the degree of harmfulness of various groups of invertebrates on plants will be discussed. In addition, the student gets acquainted with various forms of plant protection. The module familiarizes the student with the issues related to the threats posed by the importation of new crops, which are often accompanied by their specific species of pests.
