Purpose and description of the content of education: | Modern science uses methods that allow for the analysis of the spatiotemporal location of proteins, wall components, hormones, enzymes, and other compounds involved in the regulation of plant development. Histochemical techniques, and in particular immunohistochemistry, are an indispensable research tool for a biology student.
The aim of the course is to provide students with practical skills in the detection of plant cell components using histological and immunohistochemical techniques.
The laboratory includes:
1/ Practical learning of:
a) Procedures used to prepare plant material for histological and immunohistochemical analyses.
b) Selected, modern histological methods.
c) Immunohistochemical methods for localization of cell wall components.
2/ Making photographic documentation and its analysis.
In addition, the student will gain knowledge about the practical principles of working with a light microscope (fluorescent, laser scanning confocal microscope) and will consolidate practical skills in the preparation of microscopic preparations. |
