Genetics Field of study: Biology
Programme code: W2-S1BI19.2023

Module name: Genetics
Module code: 1BL_23_26
Programme code: W2-S1BI19.2023
Semester: summer semester 2024/2025
Language of instruction: depending on the choice
Form of verification: exam
ECTS credits: 4
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The course provides basic knowledge from the area of general and molecular genetics. Principal genetic terms, genetic inheritance laws, methods of genetic analysis in model plant and animal organisms, as well as molecular mechanisms of inheritance and gene expression processes are presented. Students acquire knowledge how to discriminate and describe types of genetic diversity and learn to understand molecular mechanisms leading to such diversity. Practicals give an opportunity to analyze and interpret basic genetic laws and to solve genetic problems on the basis of examples from model plant and animal organisms.
