Programme code: W4-S1BF19.2023

Module name: Optical Dispensing I
Module code: W4-BF-OO-S1-5-23-43
Programme code: W4-S1BF19.2023
Semester:
  • winter semester 2026/2027
  • winter semester 2025/2026
Language of instruction: Polish
Form of verification: exam
ECTS credits: 3
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The module details and extends the knowledge about the basics of optical dispensing, the type of spectacle frames and lenses, and the selection and implementation of visual aids in the form of prescription glasses. Students will learn the characteristics of the physical, chemical and biological properties of materials for the production of lenses and spectacle frames. During the classes, students will gain knowledge of the construction and parameters of spectacle frames and corrective lenses. Students will become familiar with the subject of and absorptive lenses. Particular emphasis will be placed on the optical properties and prismatic performance of spectacle lenses. As part of practical classes, students will acquire the skills of fitting and adjusting frames for the wearer. During the classes, they will acquire the ability to perform and verify monofocal visual aids. In addition, as part of the module, students broaden their knowledge about the impact of the setting of the spectacle lens in the corrective frame on its optical characteristics.
