  • winter semester 2024/2025
  • winter semester 2023/2024
Language of instruction: Polish
Form of verification: exam
ECTS credits: 3
Purpose and description of the content of education:
The objective of this module is to acquaint students with the concept of information architecture, which is viewed as a scientific discipline, an amalgamation of science and art, an interdisciplinary research domain, and a practical activity. Students will gain insights into the interconnections between information architecture and various other scientific disciplines, such as information science, computer science, cognitive science, ergonomics, and art. They will familiarize themselves with the components of information architecture, which include organizational systems, labelling systems, navigation systems, and search systems. In addition, the course content also encompasses AI research methodologies, Gestalt principles, UX laws, user behaviour patterns, and design patterns.
List of modules that must be completed before starting this module (if necessary): not applicable
Learning outcome of the module Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5]
The student knows what information architecture is and understands its relationships with other scientific disciplines and research areas. Students have knowledge about the subject of information architecture research and the methodology used in it, realizing that this discipline uses research methods and techniques from the humanities and social sciences. The student knows the sources of information (journals, databases, websites) that they can use to gain knowledge about information architecture - the latest research, practical project implementation, training and courses. [TAI01_1]
K_W01 [5/5] K_W05 [4/5]
The student is able to use methods, techniques, and tools of related disciplines to identify research problems, both theoretical and practical, within the scope of information architecture. [TAI01_2]
K_U02 [3/5]
The student disseminates knowledge about the role of information architecture in the information society and promotes awareness of the need to organize data and information in such a way that users can quickly find and easily transform it into knowledge. [TAI01_3]
