Purpose and description of the content of education:
The aim of the module is to familiarize students with the main areas of activity of local government units in Poland in the area of social policy. The course enables students to acquire the skills to analyse and define the most important social needs at local and regional level, to identify the field of social policy that has a direct impact on the provision of social services, to identify mechanisms and procedures for the implementation of public tasks and the creation of specific local and regional policies, as well as to identify the main actors involved in their implementation. Classes conducted in a laboratory (team) formula will create an opportunity to acquire practical skills in the field of identifying the conditions of programming, implementation and evaluation of local and regional social policies, with particular emphasis on the area of the Silesian Voivodeship.

He has competences enabling him to engage in social and professional activity in the area related to the shaping of local and regional social policy, both in public administration bodies and within civil society structures. It is ready to actively participate in the work of teams initiating and implementing local and regional social activities, taking into account responsibility and ethical behaviour within the framework of the entrusted tasks. Can define, diagnose and analyse social needs at local and regional level and identify mechanisms and procedures allowing local self-government units to carry out public tasks and create social policy, with particular emphasis on the area of the Silesian Voivodeship. She is able to communicate with actors and recipients of actions in order to obtain different perspectives relevant to the process of planning, implementation and evaluation of social policy from a local and regional point of view. It understands the need to take into account current and future challenges in the planning and implementation of public tasks and to reconcile often conflicting goals and interests of different actors in the field of social policy.
