Purpose and description of the content of education:
The main aim of the module is to familiarize students with the most important issues concerning Upper Silesia in the 20th and 21st centuries, related to political and cultural aspects. The course will cover topics such as: 1. Incorporation of a part of Upper Silesia into Poland in 1922. 2. Autonomy of the interwar Silesian Voivodeship. 3. National and ethnic structure in Upper Silesia in the 20th and 21st centuries. 4. The concept and scope of the so-called Upper Silesian Tragedy. 5. Silesia in the period of the People's Republic of Poland. 6. Systemic and economic transformation in Upper Silesia after 1989. 7. Silesian language. 8. Silesian literature.
