Purpose and description of the content of education: | As part of the module, students learn about the place of social and humanistic disciplines in the system of sciences, the specificity of methods used in the sciences about man as the creator of culture, about culture and society. Students will learn methodological categories related to scientific research procedures and their results. They receive basic information on quantitative and qualitative research methods and techniques used in ethnology/cultural anthropology, as well as their use in research practice. They will become acquainted with the specificity of qualitative research in the interpretation of various socio-cultural phenomena. Classes present the advantages and disadvantages of individual research techniques as well as the typology, specificity and criticism of selected sources of ethnographic information. The course and stages of field exploration, the principles of constructing research tools, the psychological and ethical aspects of the research process are presented. Students learn to develop, analyze and interpret the collected empirical material. |
