Description:
The "bioethics" module aims to familiarize the student and prepare him / her to assess various situations related to human interference in the phenomenon of life. The premises and precursors of bioethics, including environmental ethics, will be presented, as well as various directions of this thinking. Human attitudes towards living organisms and nature, and various solutions concerning exemplary situations of environmental conflicts will be subjected to critical analysis. Participants will be acquainted with various ethical aspects related to the use of genetically modified organisms, including, for example, the use of genetically modified plants in agriculture genetic modification of animals. They will discuss in detail the impact of using genetically modified crops in agriculture on farmers, consumers, and the biota. The ethical aspects related to using GMOs in environmental protection and the arguments for and against genetically modified food will be analyzed. In addition, the sources of contemporary pro-environmental thinking will be presented, mainly based on the achievements of modern scientific ecology.
