Optional subject: - Music in a feature film - Music in a video game Course Description: Music in Feature Film This course aims to present basic information about film music, the development of technology influencing composers, and profiles of creators and their musical works in correlation with directors and specific films. The central axis of education is learning the functions of music based on various theories of film music and acquiring the ability to analyze film music in terms of the presented theories. The aim is also to develop the ability to identify soundtrack elements, musical styles, and compositional techniques. Course Description: Music in a video game The course aims to train competencies in perceiving the role of music in a video game, especially learning the ability to identify the features of music (action time marker, thematic marker). The main topics presented during the module will be: differences between Layering and Splicing techniques, transition tracks, the problem of location vs. style, shaping emotionality due to the narrative, logic, and mechanics of a video game, non-linearity of the gameplay and its musical background, specificity of the soundtrack and its episodic non-evolutionary character.
Prerequisites:
The student should know the most popular movies and video games.
