Description:
The module enables to gain the specialized knowledge and skills, of the patch-clamp method in measurements of ion current through plant cells membranes. By this module the student will be acquainted with the physical fundamentals of transport through biological membranes, types of plant membrane ion transport systems (pumps, ion channels, transporters), patch-clamp configurations that serve to record currents flowing through biological membranes, analysis of currents flowing through ion channels. In addition, the student acquires the skills to carry out measurements using the patch-clamp technique.
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of botany and plant physiology at the undergraduate level.
