Description: | The main objective of this module is to provide students with an understanding of the influence of abiotic stresses (toxic metals, temperature, water deficit,
visible light, UV, salinity) on plant growth, physiological status and crop productivity. |
Prerequisites: | Knowledge of Botany and Plant Physiology at Bachelor level. |
Key reading: | according to the Syllabus |
Learning outcome of the module | Codes of the learning outcomes of the programme to which the learning outcome of the module is related [level of competence: scale 1-5] |
---|---|
Students distinguish and define types of abiotic stress and present the use of biotechnology in lowering of stress effects [2BT_23_1] |
2BT_W02_P [5/5] |
Students describe effect of stress caused by visible light, UV, temperature, water deficit or salinity on growth, metabolism and productivity of plants [2BT_23_2] |
2BT_W03_P [2/5] |
Students describe generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) as a result of abiotic stress and how ROS affect plant physiological status [2BT_23_3] |
2BT_W01_P [3/5] |
Students can use new methods and knowledge to describe the level of abiotic stress [2BT_23_4] |
